In 2011, a group of like minded men and women got together to create an organisation to help build sustainable initiatives to benefit the community. It aims to serve Muslims regardless of background, age or gender, taking a pro-active approach in defining their needs and identifying gaps in the existing local Islamic climate.

IMAP Schools Project

Since 2006, Oxford iMAP (Islam and Muslims Awareness Project) has been visiting schools in Oxfordshire (and beyond) to talk to children and their teachers about the true message of Islam.

Since 2006, Oxford iMAP (Islam and Muslims Awareness Project) has been visiting schools in Oxfordshire (and beyond) to talk to children and their teachers about the true message of Islam. During this time we have been invited to over 40 schools and spoken to thousands of children from the ages of 4 to 18. Topics have ranged from general introductions to Islam to more specific talks e.g. Islam in the West and Shariah. We have a number of resources and presentations to show and share with the children which help make the visits highly interactive. The feedback we have received has been very positive alhamdulillah:

"I just wanted to say another big thank you to R for a lovely visit last week, it was fantastic thank you and the children got a lot out of it - discussions are still on going which is brilliant.

Our details are circulated by the council to every school in Oxfordshire and, with over 300 schools in the county, this is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to the local community. Such is the demand for visits that we sometimes have to turn down requests. If you would like to be involved in this project or contribute in some way please get in touch with Talib Ali.

By the Grace of Amighty Allah, the Darussalam charity was established in 2008 with the aim of establishing a place of worship (masjid) and education facilities for the adults and children of the Muslim Community of Oxfordshire, as well as a centre for Islamic Information to the public.  It’s aim is to provide a focal point of enlightenment of the Quran and Sunnah for its members and wider members of the community.  With the assistance of generous donors, inshallah we will be able to raise enough funds to move forward with the project.
Currently, Darusalaam organises Friday prayers at East Oxford Community Centre, with Arabic Khutbah, and Eid festivals for the Muslim Community.
